I am an artist that loves to paint and draw, I enjoy detail, observation and capturing the likeness of something. I enjoy capturing the effect of light and texture. I dont mind the subject I just like to do it justice and show folks just how good it is.

Artists Statement

My artwork is generally detailed. At times Photorealistic but I may take a more painterly approach sometimes. Detail resonates with me perhaps more than it should. These leanings can be considered a personal reaction to poor eyesight and a way of compensating for this, a physical manifestation of both appreciation for the subject at hand and the wonderful gift of vision itself.

A decline in eyesight in 2015 made me appreciate this even more. An operation has since given be better vision than I ever had though a later complication and temporary blindness underlined my appreciation for the visual world we take for granted.

I still find the world around us awesome and just like the way things look and I wish to share a this with others the best way I know how. I feel a true likeness is most respectful to the subject

This is not the only reason however, even after 20 years or so of painting I still get a buzz, as by painting something it seems to help me understand it better and at a deeper level that I would otherwise. And similarly working out how to achieve an effect still gives me great joy.
